TGMC HOSTS TREE FOR LIFE, RASING MONEY FOR CANCER PREVENTION
The Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center hosted family, friends and supporters to honor cancer survivors, while remembering loved ones and thanking caregivers during a special Tree for Life Ceremony.
The event took place on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Cancer Center
At the event, locals had a chance to honor loved ones by dedicating a dove ornament that will be displayed on a holiday tree at the Cancer Center during December.
Ornaments may be purchased online at mbptgmc.org/treeforlife — throughout the Christmas season.
All doves, including those purchased after the event, will be hung on the tree and will remain on display for December. They can later be picked up between Jan. 7-18 at the Cancer Center.
“The Tree for Life Holiday Ceremony is such a beautiful way for patients, caregivers and community members to recognize a loved one by dedicating an ornament in his/her honor,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO, TGMC. “This event offers a unique way to make a donation, and a difference, during the season of giving.”
The money raised through Tree for Life will help support early detection and screening programs at TGMC and also the Cancer Center’s mission to improve survivorship and lessen the burden of cancer in the Bayou Region.
