CLIENT FOCUSED SOLUTIONS

MORRIS P. HERBERT INC.

Although it has been around since 1980, the well-established, professional land surveying company Morris P. Hebert Inc. (MPH) continues to expand its reach, upgrade its facilities and acquire the latest technologies in the oil and gas industry.

MPH will soon finish their new 22,500-square-foot office, with state-of-the-art conference rooms and a modern computer room with an upgraded computer system, located on Venture Boulevard in Houma. The new facility will also have 6 additional buildings that will house a training room, mechanic shop and storage for the company’s field equipment and vessels. It also has access to Capital Drive, which will make it easier for their field crews to enter with the crew trucks and boats.

“All of our Houma office personnel will be under one roof for the first time in over 20 years, which will be very nice. We expect construction to be completed by the end of 2018, with our staff moving in shortly thereafter,” Chief Financial Officer Brian Hebert says.

After working in the Permian Basin area, located in West Texas, for many years, MPH opened an office in Odessa, Texas in 2015. The high demand for their services in the area made it necessary for the business to have a permanent presence there. In 2017, they built a new fully-staffed office in Midland, Texas with Registered Professional Land Surveyors, CADD Technicians and fully equipped survey crews.

“The Permian Basin is a very active area for Oil & Gas right now, and MPH has been fortunate to be a part of many significant pipeline projects in the area that are part of the ever-growing infrastructure to move this oil and gas to various locations along the Gulf Coast,” says Chief Operating Officer John Hebert.

MPH’s Remote Sensing Department is constantly evolving and now utilizes several types of drones and has FAA Part 107 certified pilots on staff.

“Our drones allow us to collect much more data in a shorter period of time. Our drones have different capabilities that allow us to capture point cloud data, lidar, thermal and infrared data,” John says. “We have utilized our drones to do topographic surveys, volume calculation for a land fill, flood plain studies and even emergency response monitoring.”

Another advanced technology MPH professionals are trained to use is their 3D laser scanners. These scanners can collect one million points per second at an accuracy of two millimeters, which makes them ideal for working in oil and gas and electrical facilities.

“The response from our clients has been overwhelmingly positive, and we continue to find new and innovated ways to utilize these new technologies,” John says.

The clients come first with MPH, as it continues to widen and advance its variety of services to cater to their needs.

“We are very proud of the services we offer and feel that they compliment each other to provide our customers with ‘Client Focused Solutions’. We began as a land and hydrographic surveying firm, but added services such as engineering, environmental and regulatory services, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Remote Sensing over the years,” Brian says. “This makes MPH a full-service, professional services firm that provides our clients with a total solution.”

When Morris Hebert, who is still the CEO today, founded the business 38 years ago, he made sure to make it a family business, working with his wife Sandra Hebert, father Harold Hebert, brother Tommy Hebert and later bringing on his sons Brian and John, and daughter Amie Bice, all of whom have contributed to the success the business experiences today.

The Hebert family also tributes a tremendous amount of their prosperity to their dedicated employees, who not only help the business to thrive, but also serve the community. Their employees enjoy participating in local events such as Relay for Life, where the MPH team raised over $15,000 for the American Cancer Society last year.

“The people of this community have been very good to MPH over the years. We have worked with and alongside many of the citizens of this great area,” John says. “As such, MPH believes in trying to give back to the community whenever and wherever we can.”

The determined employees also participated in many local cook offs that helped raise money for various charitable organizations such as the United Way and CASA.

“We now have four fully-staffed offices and nearly 225 employees. All of our success is due to the dedication of our hard working and talented employees along with the loyalty of our clients,” Brian says.
